Nintendo wifi connection error 52200

My assumption was that incompatible routers wouldn't communicate with the DS at all as I assumed pretty much every router ought to be able to communicate over the internet. Well I'm still perplexed on this but out of town for a few more days so no way to experiment with things for now.

Any other ideas would be great I figured out a solution to my problem. Unfortunately I suspect this means that all the devices on my network will have to slow to 2 Mbps.
