Nicole Lau. Joelle Jenkins. Clair County Community College is launching a new mentoring program to help students succeed academically and in their careers after graduation.
Students in the STRIVE mentorship program will be paired with an academic mentor, pulled from an SC4's faculty, staff, and community members, and a career mentor provided by the Michigan chapter of Streetwise Partners, an independent nonprofit, Brown said.
The academic mentor will ensure students receive the academic support they need, Brown said. She hopes to connect students who are interested in furthering their education with Michigan four-year colleges, providing tours, scholarship opportunities, and other supports.
Alphonso Amos, Streetwise Michigan program director, said Streetwise's career mentors will guide students through a week course that teaches soft skills such as interviewing and time management.
