That's when I came up with this protective heat resistant sleeve that keeps the accidental tap of the irons from destroying your hoses and putting you out of commission until you get a replacement. My kit includes 2 heat resistant line covers made by 3M with slits to install the 2 tie straps to keep the cover secured.

One of the covers are longer than the other so you have to make sure that you do not put the long cover on the shorter line. I am guessing that you can use these covers on any brand of irons. Drop the paper clip into one end of the cover and let it slide down to the other end where you pull it out. Then tie that end of the string to the metal fastener of the irons and pull on the cover to help guide the cover over the lines. Some may want to spray a lubricant like cooking spray or another food grade type lube that will not damage plastic of rubber.

I didn't use a lube and I took my time and I got the covers on and the ties attached in about 10 minutes. You can see the end result in the photographs.
